Our Team

Craig Cleveland. (Dip Funeral Services, NZ Cert Funeral Directing, NZ Cert Emb) Craig was born and raised in Wanganui and is married to Laura. Craig and Laura purchased the company in 1994 and together have grown and moulded the company to what it is today – a family based company with the philosophy of our family caring for your family. Craig began funeral directing in Wanganui in 1987 and is Wanganui’s only funeral director who holds the National Diploma in Funeral Service. He is known for his ability to interpret family’s needs and provide a fitting and personalised farewell. 

 

Laura Cleveland. (NZ Cert Funeral Directing) Laura was born and raised in Wanganui and is married to Craig. Laura began funeral directing in Wanganui in 1994 and is Wanganui’s only qualified female funeral director.  Laura has enriched and developed the company’s high level of understanding of our bereaved families which is respectful to their cultural and emotional needs.

 

Clive Cooper. (NZ Cert Emb) Clive was raised in Wellington and moved to Wanganui to join the company in 2007. Clive began his funeral directing career in Wellington in 1998 and soon became known as one of New Zealand’s top embalmers, graduating in 2005 with the award for top practical embalming.

 

Michelle Scarrow. Michelle joined the company in 2006. She was the first of the 2nd generation of the Cleveland family to join the company. Michelle’s role is office administrator and receptionist. She specialises in computer graphics for service sheets and photo tributes, as well as ensuring everything is in place for upcoming funeral services.

 

Rhys Cleveland. Rhys was born and raised in Wanganui and is Craig & Laura’s youngest son. Rhys joined the family business in November 2008 as a trainee funeral director. He is looking forward to obtaining his qualifications as a funeral director and embalmer. He is enjoying the challenges and rewards that funeral directing brings.

 

Paige Troughton. Paige joined the company in 2009 as an office administrator and training as a funeral director. Paige began her working career with the Wanganui Chronicle and has been a volunteer with the Red Cross and Idea Services. Paige was born and raised in Wanganui and her family has a proud tradition of community awareness and service in Wanganui. Her father was a career fire fighter, and her mother’s family established AB Kidd and Co.

 

Jonathon Greenwell. Jonathon Greenwell is the newest member of the Cleveland funeral home team, joining the company in August 2010. Jonathan returned home to Wanganui to begin his funeral directing career.

Jonathon was born and raised in Wanganui, and after finishing his education at Wanganui High School he joined the New Zealand Army Band where he travelled extensively with them. He has been a member of four national youth brass bands. Jonathon has retained his interest in music and is a member of Brass Wanganui.
